CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

The Certificate Programs provide 18-hours of training for a comprehensive understanding on a topic in nonprofit management. Check Events calendar for specific dates.

The Certificate Programs are ideal for those looking for a deeper understanding into one of the above areas. All sessions must be completed in order to receive a certificate. Program includes all materials, continental breakfast, and parking permit (*lunch provided for during the final session of 3-day programs).

Human Resources (6 sessions)

The Essentials of Human Resources Management Certificate Program provides the knowledge and practical skills for human resources administration and management. Rapidly changing workplace initiatives, legal landscapes and workplace culture are an integral part of the human resources function. Whether you are a full-time HR professional or someone who has a combined responsibility for human resources, the responsibilities are the same. This 6-session certificate program will focus on real-life situations that are found in organization’s today.

Fund Development (3 sessions)

The Essentials of Fund Development Certificate Program is designed to help you gain new perspectives and insights on the fund development process while expanding your skills to secure funds and other resources for your nonprofit. Through 18-hours of instruction (3 sessions), you will learn how to create your fund development plan by participating in interactive discussions and hands-on activities while receiving feedback on a prior or upcoming grant proposal and/or fundraising event.

Grantwriting (3 sessions)

Expand your knowledge and develop the skills needed to prepare a winning grant proposal. The workshop is filled with “how-to” instruction, grantwriting proposal samples, and exercises that will help you through the process. Whether you are new to grantwriting, or want to improve your skills, this workshop is for you.

Marketing (6 sessions)

Whether you struggle with marketing your nonprofit or completely excel, you need to have a measurable marketing plan. These classes are designed to stand-alone or to work in a complete series that will have the attendees walk away with a marketing plan that they can put to use right away. Class participants will have homework each week and are expected to participate in the classroom workshops.

Nonprofit Management (3 sessions)

Whether you’re a first time manager or seasoned manager, you need to have relevant management skills to lead your team and organization. These classes are designed as stand-alone 6-hour full-day classes or taken as a complete series for 18-hours. Day 1 focuses on leadership vision, , day 2 focuses on leadership alignment, and day 3 focuses on leadership execution.

Volunteer Management (3 sessions)

In partnership with Points of Light Institute, the Volunteer Management Certificate Program is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the major components of a nonprofit Volunteer Management program. The main topics that will be addressed are: understanding volunteering, building a solid foundation, recruitment & placement, training & orientation, supervision and evaluation.
