Sustainability Planning: A Team Approach

Dear Youth-Serving Organization:

The Nonprofit Partnership is excited to announce open applications for the capacity-building
program Sustainability Planning – A Team Approach. This exclusive opportunity is open to
youth-serving organizations with an operating budget between $500,000 – $2 million, and designed to
take capacity-building efforts to the next level through a supportive, engaging process guiding
five organizations through strategic nonprofit planning.

In partnership with Warren Riley and NPO Solutions, Sustainability Planning– A Team Approach
addresses key issues to help mid-sized nonprofit organizations build sustainability through
teamwork, planning and implementation. If your organization has a need for building and sustaining
funding streams, programs, staffing etc. but has not had the time, resources or expertise to
address these issues in a deliberate and structured way, this program is right for you.

Selected organizations will engage in a two-phase process to build their sustainability. Phase 1 is
a four-month sustainability planning program design to guide organization through an exploration
and planning process, culminating a written sustainability plan, and Phase 2 is implementation with
a TNP affiliate consultant to begin to take the plan “off the shelf.” In order to improve the
opportunity for long-term success, organizations will participate in teams of three (the Executive
Director/CEO, a Board Executive Committee Member, and a third leader from the organization).
Additional details of the program, planning, dates and implementation process are included in the
following pages.

Due to the generous support of the Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, the participation fee for this
intensive program is only $600. In addition, organizations are required to match funds (up to
$5,000) towards implementation of the sustainability plan. We ask that your organization and board
commit to this matching grant during the application process. Grant applications are due by 5PM on
July 31st. Awards will be announced by August 8th.

We would like to thank our funders, Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, for investing in this program, to
provide unparalleled support towards sustainability in the nonprofit sector here in Southern
California. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to The Nonprofit
Partnership.
