Support Services Associate
(Part-Time Position with Growth Potential)

The Long Beach Community Foundation (LBCF) is seeking a part-time Support Service Associate with
experience in social media and design to support the existing staff. This position offers some
scheduling flexibility.

LBCF is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt charitable organization. Our mission is to initiate positive change
for Long Beach through charitable giving, stewardship and strategic grant-making.

Philanthropists use LBCF to contribute to a named fund at the Long Beach Community Foundation and
immediately receive a tax benefit for their donation. However, they then have the option of
allowing the money to accumulate in that fund until a later date, or recommending the money be
disbursed to another nonprofit organization of their choosing at any time and in any amount.
Nonprofit agencies also partner with LBCF by placing some of their funds at the Community
Foundation to be invested and managed as an endowment which allows their funds to grow while
providing them with a grantable amount that can be used to support their organization’s mission.
The fees assessed on the management of all these funds are then used to support the operations of
LBCF. LBCF also makes strategic grants within the Long Beach Community with discretionary funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support executive team with scheduling and appointment logistics
• Meeting attendance, documentation and minutes
• Provide support to program staff on special projects, initiatives, events
• Plan and execute social media postings
• Advertising and collateral design
• Assist with building and maintaining donor database and LBCF website
• Execution of general office tasks (filing, copying, scanning documents, etc.) as needed

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Interest in nonprofit management and community development
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Social media savvy (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
• Ability to manage details and keep thorough records
• Graphic design familiarity highly desirable (Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Publisher and other
appropriate design software)
• Familiarity with web maintenance highly desirable (WordPress)
• Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
• Stellar follow-through
• Strong communication skills written, orally and verbally
• Detail oriented, team player, desire to learn
• Previous similar work experience in a support role is desirable
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and pass a background check

Start Date:

Position open until filled

Hours:

20 hours/week (with some flexibility in hours worked available), number of hours may vary slightly
depending on work load

Compensation Range:
$20,000 – 30,000 annually commensurate with experience
