Organization Summary

Since 1987, the Conservation Corps of Long Beach (CCLB) has worked to help youth realize their potential while serving the Gateway Cities area. As a state-certified Corps, CCLB is positioned to offer its Corpsmembers access to a variety of environmental work experiences while also facilitating personal development opportunities. More than 12,000 youth and young adults have benefitted from our unique program, and over 1,500 have received a high school diploma while working with us. We continue to serve local youth as we work towards achieving our vision of a world where all youth and young adults thrive, are resilient, have equitable access to opportunity, and are stewards of our community and the environment.

The primary mission of the Conservation Corps of Long Beach is to support young people in realizing their potential through work, service, conservation, and education.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Social Worker who can help our corpmembers find the resources they need to manage difficulties and barriers they are currently facing.

The Social Worker plays an important role in the success of our corpsmembers. The Social Worker works with our corpsmembers in a 1-on-1 or group setting to provide mental health and supplemental services to increase their coping skills, executive functioning and wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with the Corpmember Development (CMD) team to help corpmembers transition into employment or higher education and provide them with the supportive services needed to meet their goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate Individualized goal plans and progress
  • Assess corpsmember needs and provide support and resource referrals
  • Facilitate individual and group mental health workshops
  • Maintain client records by documenting case notes, logging events and progress.
  • Advocate for needed services and supports for corpmembers, assist with mental health crisis, provide 1:1 corpmember support
  • Provide access and linkages to community organization services
  • Participate in case conferences to discuss corpsmembers progress and obstacles to CMD team members and help identify additional treatment resources
  • Maintain up-to-date database of resources for corpmembers to receive additional support
  • Assist in application completion and document submission for corpmembers mental health services

Reporting Procedures:

  • Prepare oral and written reports
  • Counsel and motivate individual corpsmembers as appropriate.
  • Participate in staff and corpsmember meetings.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong time management and organization skills. Attention to detail and accuracy, along

with ability to prioritize and multitask

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate and interact in person with corpsmembers, staff, volunteers, partners, and the public
  • Ability to thrive and work effectively independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment, with limited supervision
  • Be Flexible and have the ability to navigate changing priorities and competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Skills with Microsoft Office required; Google Suite & Excel skills highly desirable.
  • Thorough case noting and documentation skills
  • Experience with Salesforce, CODA,  Exym or other documentation/ data collection software
  • Dependable work ethic with a high level of integrity and accountability
  • Commitment to organizational mission and values is a must

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, human services, or another related field required; master’s degree a plus (licensing supervision hours available)
  • 3+ years’ experience, preferably in the nonprofit, social services field and possess demonstrated commitment to the at risk TAY, reentry or dual diagnosis population

Salary and Benefits:

  • $26.89 -$34.42 per hour (Salary Grade 18)  (reflects the entire pay range) based on a level of experience and education that exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range).
