Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator

JFCS is looking for an outgoing “people person” to join our team as a Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator. This exciting new position is mostly public facing and includes volunteer
recruitment and training, synagogue and community outreach, and ongoing coordination and support to the Heart to Home donation and resettlement co-sponsorship programs. You will work together with staff and volunteers to ensure the collection of donations of furniture, household goods, and food for refugee families. Co-sponsorship is an opportunity for you to engage individuals, families, businesses, congregations, and organizations to ensure that each family’s needs are met, that their integration into their new community goes smoothly, and that they are on their way to self-sufficiency. Groups of 5-8 co-sponsors are generally matched with each refugee family. Besides these programs, you will be called upon to assist with organizing volunteers for annual JFCS events such as Race with A View, senior food programs, Adopt-A Family Holiday program, and with volunteers to assist with pro-immigration and pro-refugee political advocacy and community action.
