POSITION OVERVIEW
CCEJ seeks a seasoned person who is values-driven, adaptive, self-directed, and passionate about providing individuals, teams, and organizations with the highest quality of services, to join our team as a Trainer & Coach. The Trainer & Coach plays a critical role in the successful implementation of CCEJ’s feefor service training and technical assistance services for adult learners in a wide-range of settings, including K-12 schools, corporations, colleges and universities, parents/caregivers, juvenile justice agencies, workplaces, systems of care, community organizations, and nonprofit organizations.
Reporting to the Director of Iluminar: Training and Coaching for Justice, the Trainer & Coach is responsible for providing training and technical assistance in Restorative Justice and Equity & Inclusion frameworks and practices to partners contracting CCEJ’s services. This position requires working collaboratively with various stakeholders to shift organizational cultures, policies, and practices. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of Restorative Justice, intersectional analysis of oppression and justice, adult learning theory, curriculum development, and motivational coaching.
This is a full-time exempt position that will include frequent work on evenings and weekends.
If you were the Trainer & Coach right now, you would potentially be:
- Working on prepping Racial Justice training curriculum for contract partners this spring
Planning the upcoming illume: Restorative Culture Shift Institute, CCEJ’s training program for individual Restorative Justice practitioners - Helping to update tools for Restorative Justice implementation for schools and districts
- Supporting organization as a SCORE Restorative Justice conflict facilitator when harm has happened
CCEJ is operating in a hybrid work model that includes a combination of virtual and in-person training, coaching, and office work during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Trainer & Coach, like all CCEJ staff, will work in this hybrid structure while we monitor guidance from public health officials about what is safe.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Training, Consulting & Facilitation Services Planning and Delivery (70%)
- Facilitate and co-facilitate high quality trainings, consultation services, and/or conflict transformation processes with assigned contract partners
- Work with department staff in implementing and updating standardized core series of trainings focused on establishing and sustaining changes in culture, polices, and practices through Equity and Restorative Justice frameworks
- Work with department staff in developing and updating technical assistance tools (activities, worksheets, planning tools, circle guides, etc.) focused on supporting core trainings
- Co-design, pilot, deliver, and evaluate new curricula and tools to meet emerging needs of current and potential fee-for-service partners
- Maintain up-to-date awareness of the latest research, evaluation and literature and translate emerging practices and research into adaptable trainings and tools for use with contract partners
- Conduct periodic survey of past, current, and potential future training/technical assistance partners to assess emerging needs and interests
- Co-develop, implement and review all assessment and measurement instruments for evaluating current/future programming where appropriate and incorporating data into future program design
- Coordinate logistics for virtual and in-person trainings respectively such as venue rental, material prep, meal ordering & delivery, setting up Zoom links, etc.
- Collaborate with team members regularly on curriculum, co-facilitation, coaching resources, team meetings, and overall team dynamic & culture
Partnership Development (20%)
- Support Director of Iluminar in prospecting, marketing, and partnership exploration to businesses, colleges & universities, K-12 schools, government agencies, and other potential feefor-service partners
- Maintain a strong and ongoing relationship with current and past fee-for-services partners
- Conduct presentations to potential partners on training, technical assistance and conflict transformation services as needed
- Engage in robust recruitment and outreach for front-facing programs open to the public
Organizational Responsibilities (10%)
- Participate in Iluminar and CCEJ-wide activities as a team member, including but not limited to fundraising events, dialogues, conferences, staff meetings, team meetings, and other activities
- Manage assigned duties within approved budget; take timely, appropriate action to ensure expenditures do not exceed revenues
- Support CCEJ’s efforts in internal resource development, marketing, public relations, event coordination and financial management as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Required
- At least three years of experience in designing, implementing, facilitating and evaluating training programs focused on Equity education or Restorative Justice
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating training, facilitation, and dialogue for varied groups, including adults, educators, and community members
- At least three years of experience working in social justice field with intersectional lens of power and liberation
- Demonstrated experience in fee-for-service partnerships with a focus on businesses, colleges & universities, and K-12 schools
- Demonstrated experience working in a respectful and collaborative manner with marginalized communities targeted by the systemic inequities, such as People of Color, LGBTQIA+ communities, youth, people with disabilities, religious minorities, and immigrant communities
- Proficient understanding of Google Suite (including Gmail, Docs, Forms, Slides, Sheets, Jamboard, and Google Sites), Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong ability to be self-motivated in executing work responsibilities
- Highly organized, proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively and efficiently manage deadlines and multiple tasks
- Ability and willingness to regularly work weekends and evenings
- Must have valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation and proof of insurance
Preferred
- Experience with facilitating Restorative Justice practices in workplace and/or school settings;
- Facilitation experience with youth or other relevant youth development experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Proficient understanding of Canva and SurveyMonkey
SALARY & BENEFITS
This position is full time, non-exempt. Salary range: $59,000 – $62,000. Compensation is based on experience. Strong Benefits Package: medical, dental, vision, 50% dependent coverage for 1 dependent, Life/ADD/LTD insurance, 403b retirement matching, 33 total vacation, sick, holiday and wellness days (annual accrual), and funded professional development.
