Director, Families in Good Health Program (Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center Long Beach)
The Director is responsible for the overall budget, day-to-day operations, strategic planning and daily management of 30 full-time employees and six distinct programs under Families in Good Health (FiGH); a diverse group of community-based health education outreach programs focused on cultural access to health care, disease prevention, chronic disease management and overall wellness. These programs include Welcome Baby-First 5 LA, Healthy Families America, Youth Outreach, Insurance Enrollment, Community Wellness Outreach and a state funded Tobacco Control Program. In addition, the position will provide oversight to the hospital’s Low Vision Center and provide program coordination for additional, grant-funded initiatives. The position requires excellent management skills, plus the ability to interface with program/clinical staff throughout the Medical Center. Because most of the FIGH programs are funded through grants, the FiGH Director will be expected to collaborate with the Director of Grants to identify and secure funding from the public/private sector through timely submission of grant proposals. The FiGH Director is responsible for the negotiation of budgets and contracts, and has the overall responsibility to ensure the Scope of Work is completed on projects. The FiGH Director also builds and maintains relationships with funders and partner agencies, and attends meetings to ensure adequate input and knowledge about public funding priorities and upcoming RFPs. The FiGH Director reports to the President of the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation.
