LONG BEACH BLAST – BETTER LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS TODAY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Title: Development Associate Compensation:
$13-$15 per hour, 20 hours a week.
Reports To: Executive Director Employee Status:
Part-Time, Non-Exempt

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is part-time, 20 hours a week. The work week is Monday through Friday, with
occasional weekend work, as needed. They assist the Executive Director with the coordination of
various fund development assignments, including, but not limited to: special events and The Legacy
Council.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists Executive Director with fund development, administration, and organizational
operation.
2. Develop strong relationships with program team in order to understand the organization’s
current and developing program priorities to inform fundraising appeals.
3. Maintains and manages Constant Contact databases.
4. Manage gift acknowledgments to ensure that all donors are thanked timely and appropriately and
receive a tax receipt for their gift.
5. Leads and provides support for all special events, including solicitation for donations.
6. Leads the Legacy Council; attends meetings, organizes mixers and leads fundraising efforts of
Sand BLAST.
7. Performs corporate outreach and conducts lunch and learn sessions.
8. Assists with annual report and annual campaigns
9. Writes and sends press releases
10. Conducts and assists with organizational goals.
11. Works as a member of the agency team with respect and collaboration.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Non-profit experience is a plus
• Special event planning experience is a plus

• Ability to work collaboratively, within a team environment where many team members are remote

LANGUAGE: Ability to read and speak English proficiently.

TRAVEL: 0-5% (local). Must have own transportation.
