The Nonprofit Partnership facilitates over 100 education events each year to serve the Greater Long Beach nonprofit community. Our education program encompasses a broad range of services, including the following:

Emerging Leader Institute

Our Nonprofit Leadership Institute for Emerging Leaders is a 10-month leadership development program for emerging leaders

Board Leader Institute

Nonprofit Leadership Institute for Board Leaders, quarterly half-day and full-day training for board leaders

Affinity Groups

A safe space for members to come together around a specific field or function to network, build collaboration, and provide and receive support.

Full and Half-Day Workshops

Topics range from the basics of nonprofit organization management and design to emerging trends and issues

Breakfast Series & "Lunch & Learn"

Connects nonprofit professionals with expert speakers & panelists who provide the latest information on top issues for nonprofits in our region.

Certificate Programs

The Certificate Programs provide in-depth training for a comprehensive understanding on a topic in nonprofit management.

Emerging Leader Institute

Developing the Leaders of Tomorrow, Today!

TNP’s Emerging Leaders is a year-long program for nonprofit professionals looking to advance to the next stage in their career. The program is designed for individuals interested in moving towards an executive director or leadership position the nonprofit sector. Through cohort-based learning, participants build skills and their network with other leaders.

Purpose

Develop ‘bench strength’ for organizations to ensure relevance and sustainability.
Improve one’s understanding, skills, and confidence in nonprofit management.
Identify leadership styles for enhanced interpersonal effectiveness.
Increase strategic thinking and planning abilities.
Prepare the next generation of nonprofit leaders.
Receive five sessions with a mentor to enhance learning and support skill integration.

Who Should Attend?

Individuals interested in advancing a career in the nonprofit sector and/or becoming Executive Directors/CEOs of a nonprofit organization.

Most participants have at least 5 years of nonprofit experience and are in a senior management role at their organization.

Other Details

The 10-month program begins with a retreat, followed by monthly sessions held on the second Tuesday of each month.

Program Fee: $1,200*

Individuals must commit to the full program, so the benefits of participation can be experienced by all attendees.

*Program Fees are deeply discounted through general operating support provided to TNP.

Affinity Groups

The Nonprofit Partnership Affinity Groups are an exclusive member-only benefit designed to build and strengthen community through peer learning, shared ideas and common ground.

They are safe spaces for members to come together around a specific field or function (Executives, Volunteerism, Arts, etc.), to network with each other, build collaboration, and provide and receive support.

Our Affinity Group offerings further our mission to build the capacity of nonprofits so they can make a positive change in their community.

Workshops

Workshops offer the opportunity to learn, engage in discussion, and find ways to implement concepts into designs.

With ongoing reflection, critical thinking, and hands-on applications, workshops are designed to facilitate skill development, and over time, positive change for individuals and for organizations. Evaluations are tailored for each workshop to connect learning and application for participants.

Certificate Program

The Essentials of Human Resources Management Certificate Program provides the knowledge and practical skills for human resources administration and management. Rapidly changing workplace initiatives, legal landscapes and workplace culture are an integral part of the human resources function. Whether you are a full-time HR professional or someone who has a combined responsibility for human resources, the responsibilities are the same.

Grant Writing

Certificate Program

Expand your knowledge and develop the skills needed to prepare a winning grant proposal. The workshop is filled with “how-to” instruction, grantwriting proposal samples, and exercises that will help you through the process. Whether you are new to grantwriting, or want to improve your skills, this workshop is for you.

Marketing

Certificate Program

Whether you struggle with marketing your nonprofit or completely excel, you need to have a measurable marketing plan. These classes are designed to stand-alone or to work in a complete series that will have the attendees walk away with a marketing plan that they can put to use right away. Class participants will have homework each week and are expected to participate in the classroom workshops.
