Volunteer Relationships Coordinator

Department: Development

Under the direct supervision of the Corporate and Community Relationships Manager (CCRM), the
Volunteer Relationships Coordinator is a member of the agency’s administrative team and, as such,
receives direction on occasion from the Development Director & Executive Director. The Volunteer
Relationships Coordinator is responsible for maintenance of the volunteer engagement program,
including implementing strategies to identify, recruit, train, cultivate, deploy and steward
individual volunteers with the agency (group, corporate, faith based and education based as needed)
and maintain the necessary calendar and data on these relationships. The goal of the Volunteer
Relationships area is to develop and engage a community of supporters in achieving their
philanthropic goals through volunteerism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Seek out and attend community fairs, gatherings and networking events to promote The People
Concern both for volunteer recruitment and event participation (guests, sponsors, venues) which may
include weekend and evening work
2. Coordinate, attend and create (new) all school related volunteer activities (includes tours +
on site volunteer activities where appropriate)
3. Recruit new school groups + community and corporate partners for The People Concern
4. In concert with CCRM, feed into corporate matching dollar program and support base
5. Coordinate, attend and support corporate and group meal services, and qualify corporate groups
for movement up the gift ladder
6. Coordinate, thank and enter relevant data in Raisers Edge for all in-kind donations (includes
sack lunches, toiletries, and drives), looping appropriate development staff in when appropriate
7. Share info and photos of volunteer engagement and activities with MARCOMM team, in concert
with other Development staff
8. Provide back up for VRC with orientation
9. Plan for and recruit (from database) individual volunteers to assist development team with
distribution of mail pieces year round, and all agency events where needed (ex. annual gala)
10. Work alongside EC to assist with volunteer appreciation where needed
11. With VRC and CCRM to maintain shared calendar entries and bookings relaying to on-site staff
where appropriate
12. With VRC and EC, ongoing data entry for both Raisers Edge and Volgistics
13. Keep regular hours Tuesday through Saturday

1. A passion for connecting philanthropists with high impact opportunities to help the most
vulnerable in their communities

2. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in project organization and management
3. Detail oriented with strong time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal,
and computer skills
4. Able to manage multiple projects concurrently
5. Computer literate; able to effectively use computerized databases
6. Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel programs
7. Valid CA Driver’s license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record
8. Able to work a flexible schedule, including regular weekend hours and some evenings for
special events and meetings as requested
9. Able to travel between Westside and downtown Los Angeles as work requires
10. Able to occasionally lift boxes up to 30 lbs.
11. Experience using Raiser’s Edge and Volgistics preferred
